In 2007, rumours began emerging that Warner Bros were planning to revive the 1980s animated classic ThunderCats, a show fondly remembered by fans of animation, action and adventure. ThunderCats fans number in their millions, ranging from young adults who grew up with the 'Cats in the 1980s to younger fans introduced to the series via its success in the 1990s on Cartoon Network. From this, a thriving online community of ThunderCats fans has grown steadily year by year, with the formation of many exciting and successful ThunderCats websites, including this one, www.thundercatslair.org.
Towards the end of 2007, buoyed by the success of the movie Transformers (a live-action re-imagining of another 1980s animated classic), reports began coming to light that Warner Bros were deadly serious about bringing ThunderCats to the big screen and to a new audience, in the form of a fully CGI-animated movie. The reaction from fans was very positive, with millions anxious to see some more high-octaine adventures from their favourite felines!
One of the most fundamentally important elements of the original ThunderCats animated series was the voice acting of actor Larry Kenney, who provided the voice of the show's lead character, Lion-O. As fans watched Lion-O grow over the course of the series' 130 episodes, Larry's voice became synonymous with the character, with its warmth, depth, power and clarity. To millions of ThunderCats fans around the world, Larry Kenney is Lion-O. Larry himself is immensely proud of the work he did on ThunderCats, and is a credit to the series, regularly interacting with fans all over the world via e-mail.
We here at www.thundercatslair.org believe that, as Warner Bros prepare to bring back ThunderCats in the form of a new movie, the only voice actor that Warner Bros should consider casting in the role of Lion-O is Larry Kenney! To this end, we have set up this petition for fans to sign and thus express their desire to see Larry reprise his most famous role.
